eWeLink app user guide

Updated over 2 months ago

This description is based on Android version of the eWeLink app, but iOS version is very similar in functionality and used interface.

Getting Started & Adding Devices

The eWeLink Android app lets you easily add and manage smart devices. In version 5.0 and above, the Add Device button moved to the top-right of the Home screen.

Tap the “+” icon (or Add Device) on the Home page to begin pairing. Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and the device is powered on and it is in pairing mode.

The app will then search for and add nearby devices automatically. For most eWeLink devices, simply choosing the Wi-Fi and entering its password is enough to pair.

  • Fast Pairing: Open eWeLink and tap + Add Device, choose your 2.4 GHz network, enter the password, and let the app discover the device.

  • If automatic pairing does not work, consult with our eWeLink Wi-Fi pairing troubleshooting guide and try one of the below alternative pairing modes:

    • Alternative Pairing Modes: If needed, tap “More pairing options” on the Add Device screen for Bluetooth, compatible (AP mode), sound (802.11mc), or remote pairing methods.

  • QR Code / Matter: You can also add a device by scanning its QR code (or Matter QR code). Just tap “Scan” after pressing +, point the camera at the code on the device or manual, and the app will add the device.

After pairing, devices appear as tiles on the Home screen.

Homes and Rooms

eWeLink uses a Home concept to group devices by location or property (e.g. “My Home” vs “Parents’ Home”). Each Home has its own set of devices and scenes. To switch or manage Homes, tap the “My Home” label at the top-left of the Home tab. From there you can Manage Home to add new homes or rename existing ones. For example, you might create “Parents’ House” and “My House” as separate Homes to keep devices organized.

Managing Homes.

(Step 1) Tap My Home on the Home tab.

(Step 2) Tap Manage Home.

(Step 3) In Manage Home, tap Add to create a new Home.

Within each Home, you can create Rooms (e.g. Living Room, Bedroom) to further organize devices. Devices in a Home are displayed on the Home tab under filter tabs (like All, Dining room, Living room, etc.). You can move a device to a different room by tapping Manage Room on that Home’s page. This lets you keep devices grouped by location or function.

Groups (Device Grouping)

The Group feature lets you control multiple devices of the same type as one. For example, you can group three smart bulbs so that turning the group on/off or changing its color affects all bulbs together. Once a group is created, it appears on the Home screen as a tile just like a device – tapping the group tile toggles all member devices simultaneously. All attributes (power state, brightness, color, etc.) stay in sync for devices in the group.

Creating a Group:

(Step 1) On a device’s page (e.g. a multi-channel switch), tap the menu (⋯) icon. (Step 2) In Device Settings, tap Create Group.

(Step 3) Select which devices to include in the group and save.

To create a group:

  1. Open one device’s Device Settings (via the … menu on its tile) and tap Create group.

  2. Select the devices (in the same Home) you want in the group.

  3. Save the group. A new group tile appears on the Home screen (e.g. “Backyard group”).

Note: You can only group devices in the same Home. Devices in different Homes cannot be grouped together.

Timers & Schedules

eWeLink supports three timer types: Schedule, Timer, and Loop Timer. These let you automate device actions based on time.

  • Schedule: Perform an action at a fixed time (one-time or repeating). For example, turn on a lamp at 7:00 AM every weekday, or turn off a device at 11:00 PM today. You can set a schedule for a single day or choose repeating days (Mon–Sun).

  • Timer: Count down a certain interval before switching a device. For example, “turn off in 2 hours.” A Timer is set in hours/minutes and then starts counting down. (Max 23h59m.)

  • Loop Timer: Run an action periodically in a loop. Choose Repeat (e.g. turn on every 20 minutes) or Alternate (e.g. on for 20min then off for 2h repeatedly). Loop Timers let you automate tasks like “water the pump every 2 hours for 20 minutes,” etc.

When setting up any schedule/timer, remember: the schedule/timer list is stored locally on the device. A device will execute the timer and scheduled on/off even if it gets offline.

eWeLink devices supports up to 8 active schedules/timers in total per device.

Scenes (Automations)

Scenes (also called as “Automations”) let you automate multiple devices under one action. In eWeLink you can create a Scene with conditions (“IF…” triggers) and actions (“THEN…” outcomes).

Scenes are cloud-based, so active internet connection is required for your devices to trigger scenes and be controled from a scene. As an exception, some (but no all) Zigbee bridges can locally cache scenes and trigger and control locally connected Zigbee devices.

The latest app (v5.0+) added powerful scene enhancements, for example: scheduling on a specific date, extended sunrise/sunset offsets, and drag‑&‑drop ordering.

  • Schedule by Date: You can set a scene to trigger on an exact date and time (up to 90 days ahead). For example, schedule all lights to turn on at 4:00 PM on December 25th for a Christmas party. This can be used as a cloud-based extension of locally stored schedules for time-based automations.

  • Sunrise/Sunset Offsets: Scenes can be tied to sunrise or sunset with a large offset window (e.g. “3 hours before sunset”). This lets you say “open curtains 2 hours after sunrise” or “turn on porch lights 1 hour after sunset,” taking into account your location’s daylight times.

  • Reorder Actions: Within a scene’s action list, you can long‑press and drag steps to change their order. No need to delete and recreate actions if you want a different sequence – just drag an action up/down.

  • Notifications: If you have the eWeLink Advanced Plan, you can enable email alerts when a scene is created, edited, or triggered. This sends email notifications to keep you informed of key automations (e.g. security alerts or device status).

To manage scenes: go to the Scene tab at the bottom. Tap + to create a new scene, add an “If” trigger (time, device status, temperature sensor, etc.), then add “Then” actions (turn on/off devices, set color/brightness, etc.). Save the scene with a name. Scenes are listed on the Scene tab and can be toggled on/off individually.

Device and Home Sharing

Device Sharing: To let someone else control a device, share it directly with their eWeLink account. On a device’s page, tap ⋯ (Menu) → Share. Enter the recipient’s country and eWeLink account (email or phone). You can share multiple devices at once. The shared device will then appear in the other user’s device list. In Device Sharing settings you can also set permissions (e.g. allow viewing/editing timers).

Sharing a Device:

(Step 1) Tap the device’s page and then the menu (⋯).

(Step 2) In Device Settings, tap Share.

(Step 3) Enter the user’s country and account name to share this device with them.

Home Sharing: You can also share an entire Home with others via the Profile > Manage Sharing menu. Go to Profile → Manage Sharing → Home Sharing. Select the Home to share, then tap Add People. Assign each person as a Member (permanent control) or Guest (temporary control). Members have ongoing access; Guests can be given a time-limited access (expiry date) and this requires an eWeLink Advanced Plan subscription. For Guests you set a start and end date for their access. Shared users will receive a notification in the app’s Message Center and the shared Home will appear in their account.

Voice Assistant Integration (Alexa & Google)

eWeLink supports voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Once linked, you can ask your smart speaker to control any eWeLink device by name.

  • Amazon Alexa: In the eWeLink app Home tab tap Connect Amazon Alexa, then Link with Amazon Alexa. This will open the Alexa app or website to enable the “eWeLink Smart Home” skill and prompt you to log in with your eWeLink account. Alternatively, open the Alexa/Amazon Echo app, go to Skills & Games, search for “eWeLink Smart Home”, and tap Enable. Then log in with your eWeLink email/phone to link. Once linked, say things like “Alexa, turn off the bedroom plug” or “Alexa, set living room light to 50%”, and Alexa will control your devices. If a device doesn’t respond, ensure it’s online in eWeLink and synced by asking Alexa to “Discover devices”.

  • Google Assistant: Open the Google Home app and tap + → Set up device → Works with Google (Have something already set up). Search for “Smart We Link” (the eWeLink action) in the list. Tap Link, then log in with your eWeLink account (select region and enter credentials). Google will then sync your eWeLink devices. You can then say “Hey Google, turn on [device name]” or “Hey Google, set [light] to blue”.

Account Settings & Notifications

Tap the Profile tab (person icon) to access your account settings. Here you can view your account email/phone, change password, set app language, and manage subscriptions. In Profile you can also subscribe to the eWeLink Advanced Plan (USD 9.9/yr / or discounted on ewelinkstore.com) for extra features. Under “Manage Sharing” in Profile you can control home/device sharing permissions as described above.

The app sends push notifications for key events (e.g. device offline alerts, shared device invitations in Message Center). In scenes, you can opt to receive email notifications when a scene is triggered or edited (Advanced Plan only). You can manage app notifications via your phone’s settings if you wish to mute or enable them.

Advanced Plan: Certain features (like unlimited Guest sharing, email alerts, IFTTT/Webhooks, Matter bridging, Cast, etc.) require the Advanced Plan. You can upgrade via Profile → Advanced Plan. Within the app, tap Profile → Upgrade Now on the Advanced Plan card and follow the prompts to subscribe vip.ewelink.cc. Alternatively, you may buy an Advanced Plan activation code at ewelinkstore.com and get it delivered in email.

After subscribing, you’ll see an “Advanced” badge on your account and unlock the premium features (e.g. simulating presence with multiple conditions, advanced dashboards, Apple CarPlay, etc.).

Summary

Overall, the eWeLink Android app’s interface is organized into tabs (Home, Scene, +, Messages, Profile). The Home tab lists your devices and rooms/groups, Scene tab manages automations, the + tab adds devices, Messages shows system alerts, and Profile is for your account.
